Haochen Zhang
Dr. Haochen Zhang is a tenure-track “Hundred-Talent Program” Professor of Labor Economics at the School of Economics, Zhejiang University. A native of China, he earned his Ph.D. in economics from the National University of Singapore and subsequently held post-doctoral and visiting positions at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Hong Kong. His research sits at the intersection of labor economics, development economics and applied econometrics, with a particular focus on human-capital formation, gender inequality and the long-run consequences of early-life conditions. His work has been published or is forthcoming in leading journals such as the Journal of Labor Economics and Journal of Development Economics, and has been featured by media outlets including The Economist and Harvard Business Review. At ZJU he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in labor economics and causal inference, advises a growing group of Ph.D. students, and serves as a research fellow at the university’s Center for Research of Private Economy and the Institute for Social Science Survey.
