Zhiyuan Chen

Zhiyuan Chen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the School of Economics, Renmin University of China in 2013, and obtained a Master of Economics from the Hanqing Advanced Institute of Economics and Finance, Renmin University of China in 2017. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from The Pennsylvania State University in 2020, under the supervision of Jonathan Eaton and Mark Roberts. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Trade Economics at the Business School of Renmin University of China, and has been appointed as a Distinguished Young Scholar of Renmin University of China. 

His primary research fields include industrial economics, international trade, and macroeconomic development, with specific research interests in innovation, productivity, and the digital economy. He has published papers as the first or corresponding author in well-known economic journals, including European Economic Review, Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization, Economic Modelling, International Review of Economics & Finance, Economic Research Journal , The Journal of World Economy, and China Economic Quarterly . 

His papers have received several awards, such as the Zhang Peigang Development Economics Excellent Paper Award, the Outstanding Achievement Award in Scientific Research of Higher Education Institutions, and the An Zijie International Trade Paper Award. He has presided over one National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Youth Project, and serves as an anonymous referee for journals including China Economic Review, The World Economy, China & World Economy, Economic Modelling, Economics Letters, Journal of International Management, Economic Research Journal, Journal of Quantitative & Technological Economics, and China Economic Quarterly.
