Nancy Qian

Nancy Qian is the James J. O’Connor Professor of Managerial and Decision Sciences at Northwestern University Kellogg SOM. She received her Ph.D. in economics from MIT, was a Harvard Academy Scholar, and has taught at Brown University and Yale University. Her research focuses on providing rigorous empirical evidence for a set of core questions in development economics that broadly fall into the sub-categories of demography and development, institutions and development, and history and development. Her work has been published in top academic journals such as the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the American Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economics and the Review of Economic Studies. She has received numerous prestigious awards such as the Alfred Sloan Fellowship and the Global Excellence Award.
