Hongbin Li is research scholar at Stanford Center for International Development, SIEPR, Stanford. Before joining Stanford, he was C.V. Starr Professor of Economics at the School of Economics and Management SEM, Tsinghua University, and the executive associate director of the China Data Center of Tsinghua University as well (2007-2016), and was professor in the economics department at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (2001-2007). Professor Li was selected the Cheung Kong Scholar by the Ministry of Education of China in 2009 and received the National Award for Distinguished Young Scientists from the National Science Foundation of China in 2010. He is a research fellow of IZA in Germany and a senior research fellow of J. Mirrlees Institute of Economic Policy Research. He is currently the editor of the Journal of Comparative Economics.
